The focal point of the parallel sessions and the poster sessions at Physics@FOM Veldhoven 2011 is the presentation of the work of young researchers (postdocs and PhDs).

Parallel session presentations
Parallel session presentations have a duration of 15 minutes. The programme accommodates 104 presentations. Both university researchers and researchers from the private sector are eligible. A presentation should be attractive for a more or less specialised public (about 125 persons).

Posters sessions and guidelines
The programme accommodates about 350 posters.

The programme committee wants to prevent making a selection in the abstracts submitted for poster presentations. Therefore we ask you to adhere to these guidelines when submitting abstracts for poster presentations:
- every group is allowed to present at least 1 poster;
- every group is allowed to present a maximum number of posters. This maximum is fixed on half of the total number of PhD's and postdocs in your workgroup.  For example, if you have a total number of 8 PhD's and postdocs in your group, you are allowed to present a maximum of 4 posters.

Themes
The programme committee has chosen the following themes for the parallel sessions and the poster sessions:
1. Light and matter
2. Atomic, molecular and optical physics
3. Nanoscience and nanotechnology
4. Statistical physics and Soft condensed matter
5. Materials, surfaces and interfaces
6. Physics of fluids
7. Subatomic physics
8. Plasma and fusion physics

Submitting of abstracts (now closed!)
With the subjoined weblink you can submit one or more abstract(s) for:
- oral presentations for the parallel sessions, or
- poster sessions

The length of the abstract should not exceed 750 characters (incl. spaces) and the titel should not exceed 170 characters (incl. spaces).
If your oral presentation is not selected, it will NOT be converted into a poster presentation.

Important!
Please note that the first author has to submit the abstract(s).
If your group submits more than one abstract, the group leader is requested to fill out the enclosed form 'Prioritering voordrachten en posters' as well and mail the form to veldhoven@fom.nl. The programme committee will do their utmost to grant the group the desired oral presentations or poster presentations. Should a selection be necessary, we kindly ask the group leader to point out his or her own priorities in the form.

Deadline
The abstract deadline was Monday 13 September 2010, before 15:00 hrs.

Registration
Please note that submission of an abstract DOES NOT imply registration for the conference. Look at our website for more information about registration.
