Exhibition Holland@CERN a big success
Holland@CERN was held from 8 to 11 November at the CERN site near Geneva. This exhibition of Dutch high-tech companies attracted many visitors and received only positive reactions. Holland@CERN has fully achieved its objective: to facilitate contact between research and industry.
A total of 27 high-tech companies went on this trade mission. The commercial exhibition was opened by the Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the United Nations, Boudewijn van Eenenaam. Then the many visitors could obtain detailed information about the high-tech knowledge and experience of the Dutch companies present on the commanding orange stands in the main CERN building, which had been transformed into an exhibition hall. The many interesting presentations given by several companies, CERN and ESRF, also attracted full houses. Last but not least, the “All Dutch Night” pulled in a large number of visitors including almost half of the Dutch staff at CERN and a delegation from the Dutch embassy in Berne. This special Dutch evening provided the companies present with another opportunity to make contact with the technicians and scientists from CERN. Foreign companies had also been invited to visit Holland@CERN.
Many of the participants and visitors insisted that this successful Holland@CERN event should be repeated in the near future.
Holland@CERN was organised by Nikhef in cooperation with the FOM Institute for Plasma Physics Rijnhuizen, the Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter and Dutch Scientific. Holland@CERN was sponsored from the budget of the Collective Promotional Activities (CPA) programme of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
