The American Physical Society (APS) has appointed Prof. P. (Petra) Rudolf as 'Fellow of the American Physical Society'. Rudolf is FOM workgroup leader at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials of the University of Groningen. She received her appointment in view of her research into carbon compounds (in particular, fullerenes, nanotubes, graphite and graphene) and her work on molecular motors. The Fellowship signifies her colleagues' recognition of her exceptional contribution to physics. No more than 0.5% of American Physical Society members are honoured in this fashion.

The fellowship certificate will be presented to Rudolf on 22 March 2011. It will bear the text:
'For explorations of fullerenes, nanotubes, graphite, and graphene, as well as light-driven synthetic molecular motors'.
