The Jan Kluyver Prize 2010 was awarded on 1 March 2011 to Dr. Tristan du Pree. Du Pree graduated in theoretical physics at Utrecht University and subsequently did his PhD research within the LHCb group of the FOM Institute for Subatomic Physics, Nikhef. The English summary of his thesis, Search for a Strange Phase in Beautiful Oscillations, was chosen as the best one published in 2010.

The Jan Kluyver Prize for the best English summary of a Nikhef PhD thesis was established in 2010 by the education committee of the subatomic physics research School. The jury members are former directors of Nikhef.

Without the efforts of Professor Jan Kluyver, the Nikhef partnership agreement of 1975 would never have been realised. As Nikhef's most important output is  undoubtedly its superbly trained PhD graduate physicists who will help to shape the future of Nikhef's research field, this prize bears Jan Kluyver's name.
