  • Study costs are not completely reimbursed by FOM in all cases. This object offers you the possibility of financing part of the costs you have to pay yourself by investing some of your gross salary or holiday hours. For more information on the possible reimbursement of study costs we refer you to Chapter 6 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Research Centres 'Training, employability and career development' and Implementation Regulation 4 'Study facilities'.
  • Holiday
hours may be used for this purpose. However, the law dictates that 160 hours each year must be taken as leave. For part-time employees the amount should be adapted in proportion to the size of their contract (a contract of 60% means that 160 hours x 60% = 96 must be taken as leave). All hours above this threshold can be used for this purpose.
  • If you opt for a monthly reduction in your gross salary, this is reflected in your salary-related allowances and reimbursements, and in the social insurance contributions you are required to pay and your entitlement to these social insurance provisions.
    Explanation:
A monthly reduction in your gross salary also lowers the amount that you will be entitled to should you become unemployed once your period of employment has ended. In case of long-term reductions your pension rights will be lowered also. If you have any doubts about the consequences in your case or if you would like to obtain more information on this subject, feel free to contact a member of the salary administration staff: Jeroen de Vree, jeroen.de.vree@fom.nl, +31 30 600 12 36.
  • Once your choice has been approved, the agreement will be effectuated. We will confirm the agreements made regarding the manner in which the settlement will take place and the timing. The definitive processing will be stated on your salary slip.
  • The time at which you really submit a declaration determines the value of the hours invested (not the time of the application). The value of the hours to be invested will be determined on the basis of the gross salary, including fixed allowances, holiday pay and end of year bonus.
  • For university-based staff: FOM Office maintains a leave record showing AVOM hours accrued and AVOM hours taken.
  • For institute-based staff and FOM Office staff: Your personnel officer will ensure that your leave record is adjusted to reflect AVOM hours accrued and AVOM hours taken.
