Piet Mulders and Beatriz Noheda appointed APS Fellow
The American Physical Society (APS) has appointed Professor Piet Mulders and Professor Beatriz Noheda as 'Fellows of the American Physical Society'. The Fellowships signify their colleagues' recognition of their exceptional contributions to physics. No more than 0.5% of American Physical Society members are honoured in this fashion. The fellowship certificate will be presented in March 2012.
Mulders works as a theoretical physicist in subatomic physics at the VU University in Amsterdam. He also participates in the National Institute for Subatomic Physics Nikhef. His fellowship will bear the text: "For his influential contributions to the field of spin physics and in particular to the development of the theoretical formalism of transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions."
Noheda is Associate Professor and FOM Projectleader at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials of the University of Groningen. Her fellowship will bear the text: "For fundamental structural studies of new phases in perovksite-type ferroelectric materials and of domain nanostructures in epitaxial films of multiferroics." Recently, a press release on her work was published.
