Dave Blank member of Advisory Council for Science and Technology Policy (AWT)
FOM workgroup leader professor Dave Blank will become a member of the Advisory Council for Science and Technology Policy (AWT) with effect from 1 May 2012. The AWT is a strategic, independent advisory council, inaugurated by a government act in 1990 that advises the government and parliament about policy for scientific research, technological development and innovation. The AWT has a maximum of 12 members who are drawn from various sectors of society such as research institutes or industry. They are appointed as individuals and do not represent any established interests.
AWT is mainly active in the working areas of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (science policy) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (innovation policy). The council focuses on knowledge development and innovation, the policy concerning these, and the factors that influence these processes. The AWT frequently advises about the conditions under which knowledge development and innovation take place, for example, the financing of research institutions or the number of women in science and R&D. In addition to this the council advises on the societal and economic consequences of science and technology.
