Proceedings Workshop Physics with Industry now online
In November 2012 the third edition of the workshop Physics with Industry took place. More than 50 young physicists worked together with researchers from five different companies (Janssen Precision Engineering, MicroDish, NXP, PamGene and Shell) on five physics problems the participating companies had submitted. The aim of this workshop was to allow young physicists to actively help in solving problems from industry and to to bring them in contact with industrial R&D. The event also gave the companies an opportunity to make contact with talented young physicists. A report has been written based on the results of a tough week of brainstorm discussions, experiments, calculations and modelling on all five cases: "Proceedings Physics with Industry 2012". On the PwI-page you can download the report.
Remarkable results
Some companies already are preparing a follow-up on the research, based on the findings and results from the workshop, via FOM and/or STW. The company NXP even has filed for an invention patent.
Organisation
The workshop Physics with Industry is an annual event organised by the FOM Foundation, Technology Foundation STW and the Lorentz Center. Further information about the workshop and its history as well as reports from previous years can be found at www.fom.nl/pwi. In the news release of 27 November you will find more information about Physics with Industry 2012.
