Albert Polman will resign as director of AMOLF
Albert Polman has announced that he will resign as director of FOM Institute AMOLF on 1 July 2013. He will then devote all of his time to the expansion of AMOLF's new FOM focus group 'Light management in new photovoltaic materials' and to leading his own research group.
Polman has been director of AMOLF since 2006. Polman: "AMOLF is in great shape. The institute has a clear mission, a good strategic plan and a great scientific staff with many new young group leaders. After seven years, this is a good moment to hand over the leadership to a new director. And it once again gives me the opportunity to put all of my energy into research and to make AMOLF's photovoltaics programme a success."
FOM's director Wim van Saarloos responded to the news: "FOM is most grateful to Albert for the excellent way in which he has led FOM Institute AMOLF. We respect his decision and are pleased that he will remain as a researcher at AMOLF and expand the FOM focus group."
FOM has appointed a search committee that will advise FOM's Executive Board regarding the appointment of Polman's successor.
