Academische Jaarprijs 2013: 100,000 euros for conveying research to a wider audience
Creative researchers who want to make the results of their research known to a wider audience in an innovative manner have the chance to win 100,000 euros this year. Until Tuesday 2 April, teams can register to participate in the 8th edition of the Academische Jaarprijs.
The Academische Jaarprijs wants to encourage scientific researchers, PhDs and students to actively bring the results of their research to the attention of a wider audience or specific target groups. The competition is open to teams from Dutch universities, university medical centres, KNAW or NWO research institutes, TNO, large technology institutes (GTIs) or other non-commercial research institutes.
With the main prize of 100,000 euros the winning team of scientists, PhDs and students can realise their proposal. Furthermore, three finalist teams will compete for the Labyrint Public Prize of the VPRO/NTR television programme Labyrint. The winning team will be featured with a report in one the Labyrint programmes.
Communication workshop
After the applications have been screened for scientific quality, the participants will be offered a Communication Workshop full of inspiring tips and tools to make a communication proposal worthy for a final. Ultimately the jury chaired by Paul Schnabel, director of the Netherlands Institute for Social Research, will nominate three teams who will further elaborate their communication plans. During the final in October 2013 these plans will be presented live to the jury.
