15 new research projects to start
FOM awards 6.2 million euros to highly promising physics research.
Op 16 April 2013 FOM's Executive Board decided to award a total of 5.7 million euros to 14 proposals from the autumn round 2012. On 11 December 2012, the Executive Board had already decided to award one proposal from this round an amount of 550,000 euros. Therefore a total of 15 projects have been awarded 6.2 million euros in funding. The list of granted proposals can be found on the Projectruimte page.
The Projectruimte is one of the FOM Foundation's instruments for funding physics research. It funds small-scale fundamental research projects in physics that have an innovative character and a demonstrable scientific, industrial or societal urgency. Proposals from physics-related disciplines are also eligible for this grant as long as the research contributes sufficiently to physics.
From 1 May 2013 onwards, proposals can be continuously submitted for the FOM-Projectruimte funding round 2013. In this round a total budget of about 4.2 million euros is available. An additional budget of 1.5 million euros is available within the framework of the Sector Plan Physics and Chemistry.
