Marileen Dogterom head of department Bionanoscience TU Delft
On 1 January 2014 Prof.dr. Marileen Dogterom will be appointed as head of the department of Bionanoscience of the TU Delft. Dogterom will succeed Prof.dr. Ted Young, who has been the interim head of the department in 2013.
Dogterom (1967) is a world leader in the biophysics of the cytoskeleton, the microtubules that give biological cells their distinctive and functional shapes. She is at the forefront of biomemetics and is a recognized expert in cell biology.
Dogterom currently is Head of Department Systems Biophysics at the FOM Institute AMOLF and professor in the Physics Department of Leiden University. She is chair of the advisory committee Physics of life processes of FOM. She received the Vici award of NWO in 2007 and in 2013, she was elected member of the European Molecular Biology Organisation. She is member of the writing group Physics 2025.
