Abstract | A multiscale approach is proposed for the modeling of a novel smart polymer composite which can convert tem- perature gradients into electrical energy. Energy production results from the activation of the piezoelectric polymer matrix (converter) by mean of shape memory alloy fibers (sensors). A bottom-up approach is formulated by making recourse to state-of-the art computational procedures. The thermo-electro-mechanical properties of the composite will be investigated. |
