Obituary Barend van Nes
After a brief, fatal illness, Barend van Nes died on 4 August 2014.
He had worked at the FOM Central Office since 2001. He was responsible for the technical management of ICT applications used to support vital administrative processes within the FOM organisation. He started at the Financial Affairs Department and for the past few years he had worked at the Research Policy Department. The applications he managed included the FOM website, the relations and project management system (PANTER), the electronic service point for the submission of grant applications (FLAMINGO), the registration for congresses (Eventure) and the collection of output data (OKAPI). Prior to this he had looked after the financial system (RCS). He was also closely involved in the preparation of the joint NWO/FOM system ISAAC for the submission and processing of research proposals. From 2007 to 2010 Van Nes was a member of the Central Works Council. With his death FOM Central Office has lost a helpful colleague, a committed employee and a special person.
Barend van Nes was 60 years old.
