Jan de Boer new member of FOM's Executive Board
As per 1 January 2015 professor Jan de Boer has taken up a seat as member of FOM's Executive Board (UB). He was already member of the Board of Directors as of 1 May 2014. He succeeds professor Detlef Lohse, who retired after 11 years as member of the Board of Directors and after 8 years as member of the Executive Board.
FOM workgroup leader Jan de Boer was appointed professor of theoretical physics in 2000 at the University of Amsterdam. De Boer studied mathematics and physics and took his PhD degree in 1993 in Utrecht. He is one of the main drivers behind the UvA research focus point GRAPPA (GRavity and AstroParticle Physics Amsterdam), one of the initiators of the recently established Delta Institute for Theoretical Physics, also supported by NWO-Gravity, head of the Institute of Theoretical Physics in Amsterdam as well as director of UvA's Graduate School of Science
