ERC Proof of Concept grants for four Dutch physicists
Jaime Gomez Rivas (group leader at FOM Institute AMOLF), Wilfred van der
Wiel (FOM workgroup leader), Gijs Wuite (FOM workgroup leader) and
Huibert Mansvelder, have received ERC Proof of Concept Grants from the
European Research Council.
The researchers can use their Proof of Concept Grants to bridge the gap between their existing frontier research and its commercial applications. This funding will enable the scientists to cover costs of technical validation, create a start-up to explore business opportunities, or develop strategic partnerships, for example. The funding is up to 150,000 euros per grant.
In the latest ERC Proof of Concept competition, a total of 120 researchers are being funded. The last 59 names, including 11 Dutch researchers, were announced this week. In total, 442 applications were submitted in this call. Only researchers who have already been awarded another ERC Grant can apply for an ERC Proof of Concept grant
