FOM encourages collaboration SME with new call KIEM-HTSM
FOM has set up financing for collaborations with SME within the Topsector High-Tech Systems and Materials (HTSM), the so-called KIEM-HTSM. KIEM already existed within NWO. Companies and research institutes can now apply at FOM for innovative, relatively small collaboration projects that industry wishes to invest in.
Researchers and SME collaborate in order to tackle SME's knowledge demands, and to strengthen collaboration between SME and academia. It is possible to apply for KIEM-HTSM financing as of now until 27 September 2016.
As of 2004, FOM has offered the possibility to apply for an Industrial Partnership Programme (IPP). FOM has created this instrument in order to strengthen the connection with industry and to have FOM research contribute thus to the Dutch knowledge economy, besides its contributions to science. In its Strategic Plan 2015-2019, FOM has incorporated that it wishes to dedicate more attention to the involvement of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) in fundamental research. NWO has KIEM-instruments available for this, such as for the Topsector Chemistry. FOM now sets up an instrument in which the collaboration with SME within the Topsector High-Tech Systems and Materials (HTSM)will be central: KIEM-HTSM.
