Vidi grant worth 800,000 euros for 89 researches
NWO has awarded 89 experienced researchers a Vidi grant worth 800,000 euros. The grant enables them to develop their own innovative line of research and set up their own research group. Eight Vidi grants are for researchers in physics.
The following eight researchers in physics have been granted a Vidi grant:
- Prof.dr. Daniel Baumann (UvA, Physics): De oorsprong van structuur in het universum;
- Dr. Andrea Baldi (Solar Fuels, NWO Institute DIFFER): Licht schijnen op katalyse;
- Dr. Franz Herzog (NWO Institute Nikhef, theory group): Decoderen van divergenties in Feynman diagrammen;
- Dr. Tim Taminiau (TUD, Physics): Het beschermen van kwantumrekenkracht;
- Dr. Bruno Ehrler (NWO Institute AMOLF, centrum voor Nanofotonica): Wat is het geheim van het nieuwe zonnecel-wondermateriaal?
- Dr. Edan Lerner (UvA - Theoretical physics): Het glasmysterie verbrijzeld;
- Dr. Iddo Heller (VU, Physics of life processes): Fysica in de vriezer;
- Dr. Oscar Versolato (STW/ARCNL): Nieuw licht voor nanolithografie.
Vidi grants enable researchers to do research for five years. NWO awards Vidi grants every year.
NWO Talent Scheme
Vidi is aimed at experienced researchers who have carried out successful research for a number of years after obtaining their PhDs. Together with Veni and Vici, Vide is part of the NWO Talent Scheme. Researchers in the NWO Talent Scheme are free to submit their own subject for funding. NWO thus encourages curiosity-driven and innovative research. NWO selects researchers based on the quality of the researcher, the innovative character of the research, the expected scientific impact of the research proposal and the possibilities for knowledge use.
A total of 572 researchers submitted an admissible research project for funding during this Vidi funding round. 89 of these have now received grants. That amounts to an award rate of 15 percent.
