Piet Mulders en Beatriz Noheda benoemd tot APS-fellow
De American Physical Society (APS) heeft prof.dr. Piet Mulders en prof.dr. Beatriz Noheda benoemd tot 'Fellow of the American Physical Society'. Met het Fellowship spreken hun vakgenoten hun erkenning uit voor hun buitengewone bijdrage aan de fysica. Slechts maximaal een half procent van de leden van de American Physical Society wordt op deze manier geëerd. De uitreiking van de Fellowship-certificaten is in maart 2012.
Piet Mulders is werkzaam als theoretisch natuurkundige op het gebied van subatomaire fysica bij de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Hij participeert ook in het Nationaal instituut voor subatomaire fysica Nikhef. Op zijn certificaat komt de tekst: "For his influential contributions to the field of spin physics and in particular to the development of the theoretical formalism of transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions."
Beatriz Noheda is Adjunct Hoogleraar en FOM projectleider op het Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials van de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Op haar fellowship-certificaat komt de tekst: "For fundamental structural studies of new phases in perovksite-type ferroelectric materials and of domain nanostructures in epitaxial films of multiferroics." Half oktober verscheen een persbericht van FOM over haar onderzoek.
