Speakers FOm/f Symposium 8 June 2012
Prof.dr. Maria Antonietta Loi studied Physics at the University of Cagliari (Italy) and graduated cum laude in 1997. She obtained her doctorate in 2001 from the same university and subsequently worked as a postdoc at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz and the National Research lab in Bologna. After completing a tenure track appointment within the Rosalind Franklin Fellowship-programme at the University of Groningen, is she currently employed there as Associate Professor, FOM workgroup leader and is chair of the department Photophysics and OptoElectronics. She was awarded the Minerva Prize in 2011.
Drs. Floor van de Pavert studied Experimental Physics at Utrecht University. After her graduation in 2006, she worked two years as a strategy consultant and four years as a programme officer for FOM. Early 2012, together with two scientists from TU Delft, she founded Single Quantum, a high-tech spinoff company from fundamental quantum photonics research. Single Quantum develops and commercializes superconducting nanowire single photon detectors for the scientific market and for industrial applications. As the CEO of the company, Floor is responsible for the general management, as well as for sales and marketing.
Dr. Olga Igonkina obtained her PhD in 2002 in Moscow and since then has worked in experiments in most of the major high energy physics labs: DESY (Germany), SLAC (USA) and CERN (Switzerland). Since 2008 she is a senior scientist at FOM Nikhef. In 2010 she won a VIDI grant to investigate the lack of the anti-matter in the Universe using the ATLAS experiment at CERN. Olga is a mother of two children.
